Lack of German-speaking moderators (and recommendation)

Ok, so, I was patrolling on de.ifixit.com, and I noticed something: there is a massive backlog of edits that require moderator approval (150+). I did a bit of research, and it turns out that there just aren't very many German-speaking moderators that are active. So, to rectify this, it would be a good idea to add a few new German-speaking moderators.

In my mind, @VauWeh is the perfect candidate. They have been active for 8 years, and during that time, they have written a broad variety of consistently high-quality guides and teardowns. They also are one of the most prolific and knowledgeable translators on iFixit as a whole (almost 200k reputation, 6th place for most Linguist badges worldwide, and more than 5000 articles translated). I really think they would be a great moderator.

Anyway, I know you're probably reluctant to listen to a normal user making suggestions for moderators, but I truly belive that Vauweh would be a good moderator.

Hi @shingle , thank you for the recommendation!

We always listen to feedback from all of our Community members, it's invaluable and helps us form new ways to grow the community.

Plus, you have a good eye, @vauweh is actually already a moderator. But, as you also pointed out, he is doing the majority of the heavy lifting when it comes to the German site.

I've passed along your suggestion to our team in Germany about the lack of German moderators to see what we can do.

Thank you for sharing your repair knowledge! And please, always share any feedback you have for us.

Hi @shingle ! Great to know that we feel the same about @vauweh !And we've recently onboarded our 2nd moderator for German, @benz78 .

There's currently 31 revisions to approve in the German patrolling section. I can see you're still waiting for 3 approvals, but while you're waiting, there are a couple that you can actually proofread yourself: This one, for example, only needs 500 reputation points to edit, and you already have over 4,000 ! For some of the other guides, however, we've set the reputation limit to infinite, so that even moderator's edits need to be approved by admins.

The massive number you were talking about are mostly wiki area edits (currently 118): While those appear in the patrolling section of all language subdomains, they're actually only patrolled in English, mostly by admins: They're currently working on a change in the areas of devices - meaning the categorization of devices, so our staff translators are not to interfere with that.

I hope I could answer your questions, and I'm already looking forward to more of your feedback!!
