Why is the compete LCD/Digitizer/Parts LESS expensive

Is the screen/digitizer when purchased independently a higher quality part than the complete package. It says that the screen/digitizer alone is an enconomical alternative and yet it is MORE expensive than the complete assembly. I would rather have the hiqhest quality screen/digitizer and will transfer over the home button if I have to but it doesn't make sense (unless the screen and parts is lower quality).
