When I have moderated I cleaned out the “me too, and this also" people/responses that clog things up.

I'm happy to have things removed if it clarifies answers.

I see no need to down vote answers unless they are wrong/misleading/shoddy. Downvoting is more than just shuffling the order of answers to put the best to the top, you're punishing people by removing rep. This site runs on goodwill and donated hours. When I know how many hours have been volunteered to helping others (and earning rep) it is very disheartening to see this kind of approach to cleaning up “answers". If @mayer  has lost 16000 points that's actually a pretty big slap in the face as thanks for his hard work.

I think you need to rethink this process.
