This guy is making guides out of service manuals.

If I remember correctly you guys don’t/can’t post the service manual as guides due to copyright or whatever. Is this Okay? @evan

Per iFixit's Content Licensing Policies:

Original Author

Materials you submit to iFixit must be from one of three sources:

  1. Content you own the copyright to because you produced it yourself.
  2. Content that is in the public domain.
  3. Content that is licensed under a compatible license.

So the answer depends on whether the service manuals are subject to copyright restrictions that allow this use, or not.

@ambertaus if an manual is available on a simple google search then?

@thesimpleguy, This is a complicated question. It depends on what you find on Google. You can find things that are definitely copy written by doing a Google search.

@ambertaus PDFs found on google without human readable copyright notice?

I can't analyse PDFs for underlying-blabla-copyright-consent-adobe-notices?

by

@thesimpleguy There is usually a notice on the PDF that says it can't be used. I think a good thing to follow for now, is that if you think it's probably okay after a looking at the doc, post it. We'll review again and remove it if we feel it is protected.
