An increasing number of motorcycle manufacturers are including irreparable things on their machines e.g. CDi boxes, for which there are not even test data. I once had to scrap a very good machine due to the fact that a CDi unit was no longer made. Now I hear that, on some new machines, if you try to change the oil and drain the sump, the bike has to go back to the dealer for the electronic management unit to be reset. Ever since the inception of that mode of transport, motorcycles have been repairable and many owners become competent repairers. Without the facility of home maintenance, obsolescence creates waste. Can IFIXIT extend its repair info to include motorcycles?
