Repair shop loses legal battle with Apple over 'counterfeit' screens!

FYI: Repair shop loses legal battle with Apple over 'counterfeit' iPhone screen import

Not sure how this ruling will hit us, referb display assembly was the best way to get a better display.

Shipping the screens to China was the cheapest way. I guess someone here will need to setup shop to prevent the importation aspect.

Their definition of “counterfeit” is interesting, since according to the article, they were original Apple parts!

“The phone screens in question were Apple parts, refurbished by Chinese resellers, but with the branding obscured. Reports vary whether the branding were completely obliterated, or just marked over with a permanent marker.”

Yes! The part is a refurbished part. In my mind that is very different to a counterfeit part! There the bones are completely new as well as everything else.

But I'm guessing this gets into traceability of a given part. Can I prove the part I shipped out is the same one I got back! That maybe how the court saw this as they couldn't prove it.
