New iPod Classic 4G battery not charging to 100%

Just installed my replacement iFixIt battery and there’s a helpful card instructing me to calibrate my battery. Step 1: Charge to 100%. But it never reaches 100%! It gets to about 80% and looks like it’s still charging. I left it going for over 12 hours but no change.

I’m playing music until it shuts down and then I’ll try again, but is this a bad sign? is the battery no good?
