The Apple Pencil can be fixed!

Hi, everyone,

did you guys know the Apple Pencil battery CAN be replaced? It's just difficult, but it can. There are some people employing the following approach: destroying the non-removable enclosure, then removing the battery, soldering a new one, and using a custom, 3d-printed enclosure. Please check:

What do you guys think? Is there any chance to release a kit to make this process any easier? I'm asking because I think Apple will eventually make newer Apple Pencils incompatible with their older devices, and if they're not repaired, you'll have to upgrade if you want to use pressure sensitivity.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

This is great! I have answered many Ifixit questions about the apple pencil, and I was sorry to tell them that the apple pencil could not be repaired, and now this gave me hope. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, Tay! Is there any possibility of iFixit taking a look at this method and implementing it to allow for repairability? Maybe redesign the Apple Pencil battery to be more easily replaced too?

According to iMeo (the guys in the video), getting a 3d-printed empty shell for the Apple Pencil costs $7, so it should be cheap enough. It'll be more expensive for me because I'd have to get a 3D model and ask someone to print it, but cheap enough if someone requests a larger batch of empty shells.

I do not know, but try to see if you can contact an ifixit admin about it.

Tay, can you reach out to them, since you probably know them better?
