When an iPhone display is replaced with a non-Apple genuine part or even a genuine part sourced from another iPhone, the device may trigger an error message indicating it as a non-genuine display. This issue arises because Apple utilizes a microchip embedded in the original display to communicate with the iPhone's software. This microchip holds specific information that the iPhone utilizes to authenticate whether the display is a genuine Apple part.

Even if the replacement display originates from another authentic iPhone, if the chip ID does not match the one associated with the original display, the iPhone's software identifies a discrepancy between the expected chip information and that present in the replaced display. Consequently, this mismatch prompts the warning indicating a non-genuine display, and disables True Tone and auto display brightness.

This serves as a security measure implemented by Apple to ensure that users can exclusively use Apple-authorized repair shops instead of opting for cheaper independent repair services or attempting the replacement themselves.

When replacing a display starting from series 11, it is necessary to transplant a microcircuit from the original display, otherwise the authenticity error will follow forever.
