A RAD way to replace BGA chips which are underfilled!

Came across this YouTube vid which shows an innovative way to replace a Flash chip which could also work for other chips too using a desktop CNC machine.

How to upgrade Storage in the iPad 5

Check it out this way better approach as long as you don’t mess up the alignments.

Wow, that's.... terrifying. I never would have imagined using a CNC machine to upgrade storage. That video kinda hurts me deep inside though, it just feels wrong. Like it's forbidden knowledge.

While scary it makes sense! Milling away the old chip preserves the pads and prevents pulling the pads off dealing with the underfill or pulling off the small MSD devices which are so close you tend to pull them off or lose them.
