Is IFIXIt warranty real?

Dear community, I write this after one years of struggling.

Long story short: I got a replacement battery for my laptop, it took fire destroying it after 10 months of use (it was Aug 2023). After more than 1 year of emails with the support and the insurance company, everything is still "on hold" but I got no refund and also no reply anymore for my emails.

Nominally the battery warranty should be 1 year, but that seems not real.

Does any of you had better luck with the customer support?

Best regards and good luck!

The warranty has been perfect for me. The tips of my needle-nose tweezers got bent over time, and I just sent support an email, and they sent me a new pair in the mail about 4 days later, for free.

Hello @nmanca

i am not in your shoes and do not know anything about your situation.

But i can say from my side, that the support always has been very helpful for me. Had once a problem with a Macbook battery and even got 2 replacements within 18 months of purchase - which is more than fair. Worked perfectly fine for me. Just my 2 cents.

I suppose that this is a legal issue and not a "gesture of goodwill" question. In my humble opinion the "right" answer depends on the country you are living in. Would you mind to tell us where you live?

The warranty of ifixit is real for sure. The expectations may sometimes not meet the liabilities of the warranty. You may want to have an additional look at the warranty details.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe in my case the key point is it that the computer got destroyed, so I should get actual money instead of a further replacement. Who knows... Also I interacted with EU offices, I do not know if this makes any difference.

Thanks for the feedback!

Wait, you talked to the EU offices? Do you live in the EU? Because iFixit isn't really supposed to send batteries internationally.

@shingle the battery may have come from the EU store :-)
