Guide Images being rejected. Optimal Guide image dimensions?

Greetings,

Making my first iFixIt Guide. (I’ve written similar things for decades on my personal website and elsewhere.)

Site rejects my image as not meeting the minimum resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. I’ve resized over and over and it keeps failing. Current actual resolution is 750 x 1558 pixels.

What is going on?

Does it have to be wider horizontally than vertically?

Is there some minimum or maximum aspect ratio as well as pixel dimension?

The image straight out of my iPhone is too big: the crop box makes me crop out essential parts of the image. So i’m resizing it, but the site rejects all my revisions outright.

The Media Manager needs better, clearer documentation on this.

In the meantime, what are the optimal dimensions of an image? Maximum dimensions?

Would much rather make a Guide on iFixIt where more people will read it, but with too much friction creating a Guide i might have to revert to posting on my own site.

Thank you.

The required resolution ratio is 4:3 with a minimum of 800 x 600. You can probably set this ratio in your phone app.

Regarding optimal image size, it depends what is in the picture. if there is a lot of detail I want users to be able to zoom in on, I might upload a higher resolution.

My default ratio is 1600 x 1200, but for a higher level, I might upload 2000 x 1500.
