iFixit Hub battery drain

I don't use my iFixit Soldering station on a daily or even weekly basis, but whenever I do pull it out to use, inevitably the battery is dead, even though I fully charged it the last time I used it. What is causing the battery to drain while it is off?

Simple answer, it wasn't kept on the charger. The battery begins to drain once left unattended to for a while, which causes the battery to deplete. Nothing lasts infinitely.
