100C low temperature not supported?

Printed on the box it says the supported temperature range is 100C-400C, and it also says this in the Amazon listing. However, the FixHub software won't allow me to set it lower than 200C. Is there a secret way to set it lower?

@krisrodriguez - Is this a firmware issue?

by

Yes this is a firmware issue. The firmware simply doesn't allow temperatures below 200C to be set except as idle temperatures.

@jdarpinian - I figured it was the case. If you create a press-fit fitting tip to melt into plastic (3D printer) 100 C will be needed.

The other feature one might want is a programmable button on the handle. With press-fits you want the iron to be at idle temp below the melt point of the plastic, then when you press the button the heat is raised for a limited time so the plastic doesn't loose its shape or strength as it's melted as you set the press-fit in. Ideally you want a heat shield & guide to place over the location holding the brass fitting.

@jdarpinian Thank you for sharing this! I checked with our product team, and it looks like the 100°C lower limit shown on the box and listing is a copy error. The current firmware only allows the iron to be set as low as 200°C.

What kind of task do you hope to utilize with the lower temperature range? I can’t promise a firmware change but I can pass that feedback along to the team who would work on this.

Thanks. I am doing heat sealing in addition to regular soldering. 200C is too high and damages the plastic. I returned the FixHub Smart Soldering Iron and purchased a Fnirsi HS-02A which does go down to 100C. It also has a built-in display and controls despite costing less.

Thanks for following up and for giving our iron a shot. I’ll pass this along to the product team.
