Where to dispose of my old iPhone's bttery

Ok, I ordered a new battery for my iPhone 3gs, I replaced it and everything is cool, BUT where can I dispose or recycle the old battery. Do you have a recycling center or something like that? THANKS

I just don't want to trow it on the regular trash.

most supermarkets/schools etc in UK have battery recycling canisters..all our recycling centres (garbage disposal sites) also have a separate area for batteries. I'd have thought that most modern countries would have similar systems?

You would think so, but sadly such safe disposal sites are not nearly as prevalent in the U.S.
