Its a chemiluminescence immunoassay analyser used in pathology testing - Essentially a couple of robotic pipettors that can accurately deliver a few micro litres of liquid to a cuvette for a reaction to occur that creates a light output proportional to the target you are testing for. Then you use a Photo multiplier tube to measure the light and some fancy calculations to generate a human readable set of numbers. Sounds simple but in truth very complex.
Yeah - I love my job. Travel all over the country installing servicing repairing these these analysers. Lucky for me they are quite reliable for the most part.
Expensive looking stuff, reminds me of the analyzers in our lab :-)
