Why have I lost my reputations again?!

Common iFixIt ModeratorS,

Today I had my reputation taken away (been caught on the crossfire of that spammer) whilst I was raising concerns about that issue of Spammer!

I got my reputation reinstated, and even acknowledged from iFixIt team and moderators> As mentioned that whistleblowing should and is rewarded!!! And now I have my reputations taken away, yet again?!?!?!

This now this is real mystery?!?! Why again and why is it not mentioned under the activity of my profile??? Have I been again been taken on cross fire???

Please do something about it! Something is wrong!!! Even here on meta.ifixit I had my reputations going up of 72 and not gone down like on answer on iFixIt?!?!?

Answered! View the answer I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I have this issue as well on ifixit repair, just recently lost -300 due to a comment and got punished for basically flagging the spammer to be removed. Very Sad I worked to help hours and hours on end helping and helping and I get punished by a admin. I'm not allowed to help? on ifixit? I thought I was able to help. I had 503 rep now I have 202 and its marked forever that I'm a spammer. I'm NOT a spammer!

Howdy! Thanks for the spam help; I'll try to explain some of the reputation behavior.

One of the biggest confusions might be from the fact that "meta.ifixit.com" has different reputation than "www.ifixit.com." You have the same login but the reputation is tracked separately.

When we go around with the ban hammer and start deleting posts, all reputation and action associated with those posts also get deleted. So, if you were to get 100 rep points on a spam question, you'd end up losing all of those.

We also don't sum ALL your reputation changes each time we display the page, we save it in a cache until a change happens, then sum things up again. When doing Admin actions (see deleting hundreds of posts), things might get out of sync if you are tied into those bad posts. Once we run our rep totalling code again, things will be accurate but the number might change more than you expected b/c posts you had points on got deleted.

We just did a whole bunch of bad things to those questions so anyone's history who has actions associated with those questions is going to be a little wonky.

We have to be heavy handed on the spammers, sorry if your rep is taking collateral damage. Let us know and we can try to fix it up.

Hi Chris, thanks for the explanation, now I understand a bit it better, anyway you guys did a great job on blocking that bugger... as I have just mentioned to Scott my reputations on ifixit answer was like a roller coaster today, up to 13 and down to 1 and up to 30 something, up to 61 and up again to 90 something and back down to 1 and up again to 13, to stagnate there... at the end of the day it seems that I have lost around 80 reputations... sigh :( thanks anyway... Max

fix mine, mine on ifixit was 503 now its 203, because I flagged a spammer. its on my record forever and if its not fixed hours will be for nothing helping, people wont listen to me now. -300 (By admin) fix it ill stay helping people, if not ill never come back to this site, ill go elsewhere.

I shouldn't be punished for flagging a spammer.

We think that we've got your reputation points straightened out now. At time of writing, you're at:

Both are significantly up from where you were a few days ago. Please feel free to reply more on this tread if you run into any other issues with your rep, and we'll help make sure everything is correct.

It's also worth mentioning that we've been removing your reputation-related questions from iFixit Answers (https://www.ifixit.com/Answers), because they aren't related to helping people repair things. The correct place for reputation or account-related questions is iFixit Meta (https://meta.ifixit.com), where you're at now. Removing these questions just makes them hidden for normal users, but doesn't affect your reputation at all.
