Now I am spamming?

Okay ifixit. Here I am, minding my own business and answering a few questions, no big deal until....I answer this question https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/1907... Here is my answer "Karim Ayad, they are available but not at the usual places like ebay or Amazon. You can get them from places like this or make an inquiry on here. Hope this helps, good luck." and BAM "Marked as Spam

Your post definitely wasn't spam, but was marked as such because, among many different spam prevention efforts, we had blocked posts mentioning "baba" (due to one of the spammer friends we've been dealing with so much). Your post linked to alibaba, which unfortunately contained "baba", and so your post was flagged. I just removed that rule, so you should be fine now to post that answer.

Rather than re-inventing the wheel with regards to spam detection and prevention, we're working on setting up and integrating one of the existing leading spam-prevention services that's available. Doing this means that we'll have a bit less control over the spam rules that are used, but as an industry leader, they should do a better job detecting spam than we could hope to do, and we'll have more time freed up to work on iFixit's core platform, rather than fighting off spammers. It's probably worth mentioning that this new spam system we're switching to wouldn't have picked up your post as spam like our more primitive home-made system did.

That's cool. I figured something like that but would have never picked up on the baba. Thanks for letting us know and we all realize that the spam removal is a big task for you guys at ifixit. You know it's a non-issue and ifixit is the best...!!!!

I wouldn't call it spamming... Bots are not AI's... they can't critical think. You got caught by friendly fire.

Now if only they'd key in a few phone number prefixes on the black list maybe we wouldn't have to manually point out all the Indian Maytag Repair spams.

FWIW I think you're doing a heck of a job over on the other board trying to clean up the unresolved Questions... would hate for you to be offended and walk away.

Thanks machead3, it's all good. No way am I going to leave this place. I actually enjoy our community and the job we are all doing. I am certain we are doing our part assisting others well. It was just funny that I could not post an answer and got this message "post was marked as spam by our automated moderation system." somehow I think we need to fine tune that automated system to catch the real spammers:-)

I don't know - according to Nick removing spammers apparently is a PITA not a high priority..
