Release Notes: July 1st, 2015

Features

  • Redesigned iFixit header, homepage, and footer
    • The new header integrates a constant search bar, a new cart icon, and keeps navigation consistent around the site.
    • The new homepage facilitates the search for answers by putting the search bar front and center, and features rotating images of various repairs.
    • The footer displays the number of manuals, devices, and accepted solutions that we currently have.
    • The link to iFixit Meta was changed to “The Watercooler”
  • Business team members are now automatically subscribed to the iFixit Pro newsletter
  • Mobile users can now take a photo or video directly from their phones and upload it through the media manager
  • By popular demand, added Login and Join links back to the homepage
  • Tweaked product display so that all prices now show in red
  • We now send emails notifying members when their questions are about to be automatically archived, giving them the opportunity to update it
  • We have added a new interface for single-video, single-step guides; videos added to a guide’s introduction are displayed full-width, and the wiki/guide toolbar now includes a video embed link button to make adding videos convenient
  • When questions or posts are updated, the updates are now appended to the end of the post beneath an “Update” header
  • Added “View Profile” link back to the header's dropdown menu

Yeah, I think we're going to change it back to 'feedback' or 'meta' or some such.

Does the IFIXIT water cooler offer hot & cold water ;-}

I think so, but I've never tried the hot water tap. I bet Kay-Kay knows, though.

That's the iFixit Watercooler on the right. As you can see, it's complete with hot and cold spigots!
