Getting info for Mac with last 3 -4 figures of serial number

EveryMac has discontinued the ability to retrive information on Macs with the last three four four figures of the serial number with this statement:

"It appears that you have entered a fragment of a serial number. EveryMac.com has not formally supported partial serial numbers for years and no longer displays results for partial matches because there are too many false positives. Please enter your entire eleven or twelve character serial number so that you may be presented with accurate information. Thank you."

Does anyone know if this will still work anywhere else or are we going to have to get full serial numbers?

Chosen Solution

Please tell someone to (1) lookup their own serial number with EveryMac.com's Ultimate Mac Lookup (http://everymac.com/ul) and (2) share the link to the system specs page that EveryMac.com provides with you and/or online communities. This procedure will ensure that (1) the information will be accurate and (2) you don't have to worry about any potential problems from someone posting their serial number on the open internet.

Thank you for your understanding and for your support of EveryMac.com as it enters its 20th year of helping the Mac community.

Thanks for the response Brock. Your site has been an invaluable tool for many years and has helped so many. I feel like I have lost an old dear friend (which I have). The investment you have obviously make in your database would preclude you from giving it away. It will be sorely missed.

Nothing has been lost and a great deal has been gained by improving accuracy. Information only is valuable if it is accurate. Thank you, again, for your continued support of an old friend that has evolved many times over the last two decades and that will continue to evolve, as well.
