How do you make the areas where you teardown exactly bright white?

My question involves the area where the teardown areas look perfectly bright white like teeth/paper/milk/etc. Also, the shading I just mentioned, how is the Lighting done to make it shaded as shown in your teardown pictures?

The short answer is ~*PhotoShop Magic*~. The long answer is: We start with a great lighting set up, white photo paper with vertical daylight fluorescents, and front fill lights. Seen here! Then I take the files into PhotoShop and adjust the lighting, and paint a pure white background in. For comparison:

A Photo Gray card also can help. You can make your own or buy one. Here's a smaller card set: Digital Grey Card & White Balance Card Set which is good for small scale photography. There are larger units for portraiture and wedding.
