Why do we have rep on Meta?

I don't really see the point of it. Since you start out with 100 rep on meta, its not stopping down vote attacks. Maybe remove it from meta. because, if spam does happen on meta, well all the admins work around here so it would be fairly quick removal.

If it ain't broke why fix it?

It is an unnecessary cost to spend time on something trivial like this.

And I think you pretty much answered your own question.

This area is mainly for admins. Unlikely to have spam and down vote attacks here.

@captainsnowball ever considered that rep points are a thank you from iFixit for participating? We are just distributing them but iFixit provides those. Downvotes are not the norm nor should we be looking at those as punishment etc. Like I have mentioned many times before, use downvotes sparingly. Anybody that participates and supports what iFixit stands for should be rewarded. Check your voting history and upvote often. All it really says is "thank you" for taking the time to care. Compare the ratio of downvotes to upvotes......look at the good things and not the bad things.

Why would this not hold true for Meta? It is not an exclusive club. People are still taking their time to report issues which is just as important.

It is my view that these points are a reward for taking the time trying to help fixing the planet and making us better citizens of this planet. It is the mission that we have embarked on that matters. Empower people by providing assistance with their repair through answers and guides.

but are you encouraging those that provide help to others? Why do we see so many good people come, provide some great answers to just disappear in a few weeks or months? Do you think the lack of feedback to them might be part of that reason? You see, not everyone is an idealist and spend hour after hour to really accomplish "the mission". Some people need a bit more feedback and interaction to stay connected and interested.
