I tried to edit this question to select a more appropriate device symbol and I keep ending up with this response
I have had no trouble doing it on other questions with other device options selected.

Well that method works but seems as though it is a workaround. I'm still intrigued that it has to be done this way rather than the "usual" way as I've done with other questions/devices.
Also why I could not select any device type at all and that it went straight through (well nearly give or take a second or three) to the page shown, whereas with others it stays on the 1st page and choices can be selected.

Hi @jayeff , you should still be able to click on the name (in the upper left) to start searching for a more appropriate category? Does that work?
Update: @oldturkey03 did a better job of explaining it than I did ;)
The reason the category tree doesn't work in this case, is because it's a free-floating orphan, someone selected that device and divorced it from the rest of the site's content. So we can't show a history or file tree for how you got there, it's just an island in space. The upper left search bar isn't a workaround, it's there to help you find a place for the device without clicking through all the categories. So you can search for ZTE and get the category, and click back on the Phone category if you want. Or you can search phone to begin with.
Hope that helps, I don't think there's another way to allow people to create new devices while allowing people to edit those devices.

The only options available are the "choose Android 5.1 ZTE" box in the middle of the page and the "Cancel" option at the bottom.
When clicking on either I get redirected back to the edit question page.
When I first click on "change" in the edit page the device options page opens and all the device options appear and the cursor does change to show that you can select a device type (hand symbol) but that covers the whole page regardless of where the cursor is. Clicking anywhere on that page does nothing and then it automatically goes on to the page I've shown above. I have tried this on 2 different Windows PCs using Chrome browser.
But as I said earlier when I do this on other questions with other 'devices' to edit it works fine.

What I do is in that half second it loads, click some device in the menus and then go from there.
Happens to all questions if a selected device does not exist.

You must have quicker reactions than me, because it still doesn't work. Also you have to ask yourself, why is it happening (so far) only on this device. ;-)

Thank you but it still doesn't work for me. Regardless of what device I first select nothing happens and I default to the screen as shown above.
Perhaps I am too far away (look at my profile on ifixit) and the transit time is too great to be overcome to get it in, in time, if you follow my drift ;-)
I'll wait for the admins as I believe that there is a problem with this particular device name setting. As I said i have no problems with other ones.
