This has been a well known fact of life around an agricultural area such as West Texas, where I live, for a very long time. This has forced a lot of farmers to STOP BUYING American Made Products. Farmers, out of necessity have always had to fix or be able to modify their equipment. If you are in the middle of harvesting a crop and your tractor goes down and you call John Deere and find out that they can send a guy out in ten days to fix it, you don’t buy another John Deere after you just lost a years work because of the tractor companies greed.

Part of the problem is CARB - not saying the law is entirely bad but it has *always* been very restrictive in general. This is the reason I need to warn people about CARB when they ask about doing something like putting a VX-20 Camry engine in a VX-10 chassis AND mention that CARB cats may be required. CARB had noble intentions, but it’s gotten to be more of a burden more then something good.

The way states like Texas handle it is much more agreeable - keep the emissions reasonable, even if do a modern engine swap in an old chassis.

The perfect implentation is no inspections but let’s be realistic… No inspection state is going to consider dropping it unless you’re Florida and you lose money since the gov’t is not willing to subsidize yet another tax.

CARB stands for California Air Resources Board. CARB is an agency that deals with environmental protection, specifically air pollution. Because of this, a generator needs to be compliant with CARB's rules and regulations. ... Power equipment engines like generators are inescapable of producing harmful emissions.

I was just trying to explain what may be the reason why they agreed to this. CARB emissions regulation seemed the most logical.
