Apple Pay option is greyed out when trying to check out

I’ve just set up an Apple Pay account. Have cash in it but have not used it before. Have items in my cart but the Apple Pay option is greyed out. How do I activate it?

Answered! View the answer I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@mayer - Thats cool! I didn't think IFIXIT was setup with ApplePay.

Had to finish the set up on iPad. Change the payment method on the iFixit check out. But looks like it is working now.

@mayer Good sir!

You are a customer of ours!

Please, for future order-related issues, we ask that you contact our Customer Support team instead of using Meta, that way we can handle your request with ease. @evan and @sam are wonderful people, but they are not on the Customer Support team so they just end up forwarding your requests over to us anyways, but with lag. ;)

In this case, we see that item(s) are still in your cart but the order does not appear to have gone through. It looks as though the issue is being caused by missing or inaccurate information pertaining to one or more of the following fields in your Apple Pay account:

  • Street Address
  • Postal Code
  • Card Verification Code (CVC)
  • Card Expiration Date

We recommend verifying these fields in your Apple Pay account before attempting to place your order again on iFixit.com as it should fix the issue for you, however if you continue to experience trouble then please utilize Apple's feedback form for Apple Pay.

If that doesn’t work, you’re welcome to try using the other payment methods we offer at checkout.

Please shoot an email to us over at support@ifixit.com if you continue to run into trouble.

We hope this helps!

Hey Mayer, I think there are a few hoops you need to jump through in order to use Apple Pay on a Mac, for security’s sake. Here’s the Help page, and I think this might be the relevant portion?

“To use Apple Pay with Safari on a Mac model without built-in Touch ID, you might need to check your settings. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay and make sure that Allow Payments on Mac is turned on.”

Does that work out??

edit: You may also need to turn BlueTooth on and authenticate via the iOS device? The easiest solution may be to complete checkout on the iOS device itself?

Thanks Sam. I did it from my iPad. Will need to do some research to see if there is a way to use it on my MacPro.

Best of luck! Doesn't seem like there's one simple answer for the procedure unfortunately. If you continue to have trouble it may be on our end, so keep us posted.

Actually, I'm digging into this and I think the problem is on our end. We'll look into it and report back.

@evan I checked out using ApplePay and everything looked good. But the stuff is still in my cart and I did not get an email notification of the order.

@evan Please ship order while we are working on this. It has a battery in it and will be slow anyway.
