Part page compatibility correction may be needed

When I got my MB, I expected it to (eventually) need thermal paste - that need was accelerated by 2 forced shutdowns over time since I ignore the 1st and wait for a 2nd as confirmation of bad thermal paste. Anyway, the machine is back together and verified to work, but I found something in my 2006 MB that isn’t supposed to be compatible per the iFixit page, as far as I know. My machine came with a that wireless card (2007 2.4/5Ghz compatible), as you can see in the above photos - I DID NOT install that. The page in question is here. My guess for having it is it was cheaper (or the only option) for someone along the line to put that in rather then pay for the 802.11n unlock on the 2006 card.

I have a late 2006 C2D GMA950 MB. I’d post an image but that would reveal my serial number.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hey Nick,

Thanks for sharing. I've passed this along for someone to look into it.

Hi Nick,

The compatibility for this product: https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac/MacBook... lists the Late 2006 and Mid 2007 model A1181 13" MacBooks. The processors are 1.83, 2, and 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The machine ID is MacBook2,1. Do you believe your machine is not in this group?

I'll check @mr_jeff. It's a GMA 950 but if you would like my MacBook ID I'll get it. It's a 2,1 so I must have suspected the 1,1 identifier from the Core Duo carried over.

I have also confirmed it's stable with 3GB installed :). I wouldn't buy this model again unless it was cheaper but I already own it so I tried to make it the best machine I can.

I believe the compatibility list for the wireless card correctly covers your machine.

It does. I thought the 1,1 identifier persisted with the 2006 C2D.
