Has anyone else noticed Badge delivery being inconsistent?

Sometimes it doesn’t even work. I feel like many more people should have the Captain Planet badge (myself included, I’ve done all of these things) and yet it’s very rare. Additionally, it takes varying amounts of time for them to show up after being achieved, for something I feel like should be instant. I should have this Badge too, someone just accepted my answer to something from 2017…

Is there something I’m missing here? Is there a reason they aren’t instant?

I know this is very minor and picky, but I thought it’s worth saying.

You’re not being nit picky! We have badges so you can earn them.

We will see if there is anything amiss with our badge system.

@reedcrosby I have some answers for you:

- Badges take a while to appear because we award them using a scheduled task. The task runs nightly.

- Regarding the Archivist Badge: you can earn that badge if your response is created 60 days after the question is asked—although the wording is certainly confusing. The goal is to encourage folks to answer stale questions.

- I'm not sure why you haven't earned the Captain Planet badge.

Ah, that makes sense, it wouldn't really make sense to have that run constantly I suppose. The Archivist badge wording is certainly confusing, that's really weird. I see what you're saying now, but the wording at first glance seems like it's saying your answer is accepted more than 60 days after it's posted. And it's a real shame about the Captain Planet one, at least I know I'm not crazy.

It usually takes ~24 hours for them to show up for me if it gets delayed. I can tolerate that gap as it's not long.
