Can you add an update so that people can make suggestions to ...?

The whole question could not be typed in the input field. It was “Can you add an update so that people can make suggestions to specific users?“. I would like to get the ability to suggest what to try out next or how to do something in a better manner without posting it for the whole community to see. Could you please make it so that people can make comments or suggestions to a specific user only? This is actually more of a suggestion for a method of improving iFixit.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your feedback. I'll pass this suggestion to the dev team and see what they think.

@michaeld2 repair must be a transparent, multipronged process. Open comments and discussions amongst all users has a far greater probability to lead to a successful repair. We are here to help and empower everyone to fix their devices. By doing this “in a better manner without posting it for the whole community to see” and only making suggestions to a specific user, you are limiting this severely.

If you want to make a suggestion, or need more information from any OP, just do that in comments for all to see. Remember that even if you may feel it may be somewhat outlandish etc. it is still okay to post. There is no flaming or bullying in the forum.

I couldn't agree more. The whole point of this forum is to help others. Yes, the OP has a specific request but tons of people benefit from the open responses in this forum. Good questions (and even better answers) generate tens of thousands of views.

Besides, the risk in allowing people to contact the OP directly is that this opens up the door to spamming or offering of services (I'm not implying this is your goal).

What I wanted was more under the lines of sending a comment to one specific person so that the whole world would not see it, just the intended recipient, such as a suggestion for something that may be nice to do next.
