Why is Apple only now paying its AASP's the full amount?
So Apple has been short changing its AASP’s! OR are they flat feeing all repairs to the higher level?
Is this a worthwhile discussion?

Hmm this is interesting to think about. On one hand, if we take the article at face value we can say “oh hey look, Apple is doing a great thing by paying out the maximum rate for their repair technician during these unprecedented times!” However, if you look at the other side, it could be that Apple hasn’t been paying out the best rates for AASP’s, and we all know Apple’s history with not being the most consumer-friendly.
I also saw that more details about the Independent Repair Provider Program we Not good ;-{ Apple is chipping away! that were just added recently. It looks like Apple wants to be able to hold “unannounced audits and inspections” for every repair shop in their program in order to remain an AASP, which is a seriously laughable and ridiculous stipulation of the contract.
Hope you’re doing well and staying safe @danj ! And as always, thanks for posting and keeping these discussions alive!

@jogihara - Things are dicy here in Boston. A family down the street are in quarantine! One parent was exposed and tested positive.
My niece in NM is in self imposted quarantine as one of her class mates was tested positive in her dorm!
Being over 60 and having lung issues does put me at a higher risk. Not venturing out other than getting groceries.
@jogihara - Stay safe! And take care of your elderly neighbors as best as you can.

Then there is the issue of their new independent repair providor program. Apple hasn't offered any changes there.

@danj Take extreme precautions. And not just older or troubled people. There are cases of deaths in young people or people who were not at risk. Europe thought that it was not something filming and now we are locked up at home without being able to go out, just to buy or take the dog out.
There are already complaints about taking toy dogs for a walk, this is Spain...

@danj Self-quarantining and practicing social distancing is the best we can do at this point (in the U.S. anyways). I'm definitely going to do my best to not interact with people for a few weeks or however long it takes for conditions to slow down.
@oscarsp Yikes! I hope things get better on the European side so that you can actually walk your dog and do small things outside. Best wishes and stay safe!
