Saving edits, they get accepted automatically -> no Rep-points

Hello! :D

After editing a guide yesterday, I later noticed that they had got accepted automatically.

Then I saw that this means that I don’t get reputation points for editing guides, which I feel is a bit weird.

So my question is, is this because of me having over a certain amount of reputation points already and that makes them get accepted automatically?

And because I am the one accepting them, I don’t get any points for it?

Or is it due to something else?

Is this a good question?

I was thrown off with this when I reached 500 rep. Honestly, at that point, 1 point will not do much for you. It's the liked posts, accepted answers, and completed guides that really count. Now with 854 rep, I don't really notice one extra point added.

Good question! The reputation system works by awarding you when other people approve of or use your work. We can’t reward you for making edits, because we don’t know if they’re good or not. We also don’t want to require patrolling for every edit—the site is just too big.

So instead, we award reputation as guides are used based on the significance of your authorship. An example: this Ridgid guide that you worked on attributes you 6% of the reputation points. Every time someone clicks the ‘I did it’ button on that guide, it fairly splits 30 points among the authors so you’ll get one or two points.

This method of building reputation is a bit slower than Answers but has a longer tail.

Anyway, thanks for your edits—and keep it up!

Okay, I understand and it sounds like a good way to do it. :D

Thanks for your answer and I will take a round of editing one or a few guides a bit now and then when I feel for it. :D
