use of solvents in iPhone X repair

I’m about to replace the battery in my iPhone X with a new one from you. Your guide recommends using isopropyl alcohol for removing old adhesive residue but none is available locally. Will denatured alcohol work instead?

thanks!

Hey there!

Thanks for your question. Our tech writers discourage the use of denatured alcohol since it leaves behind a residue. We do carry an adhesive remover in our store, but it is flammable, so caution is advised around heat sources.

You can also use a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen the adhesive under the battery and slide a piece of floss underneath to remove it. You can find more detailed instructions here.

I hope this helps!
