You could've easily organize the supply chain to allow you have good quality batteries for every device you offer repair guides for.
For example I now need a new battery for my Zenfone. Why can't we just have some new batteries?
Because iFixit probably can’t afford to have a million different phone batteries that might only get bought once or twice a month. And also could you elaborate the “easiness” of sorting out a source? Perhaps give an example of a vendor that sells every model of phone battery in the world and will brand the batteries for iFixit and will be sold at an affordable price? Also, lithium batteries have a shelf life” and you can’t sell a 5 year old battery and expect it to act like new. Then you have to deal with storing them somewhere in a warehouse.

Hi John,
Thanks for your post. Like many companies throughout the pandemic, iFixit has been impacted by supply chain disruptions due to circumstances beyond our control. I'm not sure which Zenfone battery you need, but we do have a few Zenfone 2 batteries left in stock.
I hope this offers some perspective, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you for the response. I didn't mean to be negative, by the way, I'm just surprised that in 2022 we still don't have access to quality brand new batteries, and often are forced to change a device after just a few years of use. Thanks.

@John P. That problem is caused by the manufacturer of the terminal. Look at the amount of spare parts that brands sell, before buying the next terminal.
iFixit or any other company cannot make the batteries you want and the quality you want. That should be discussed with the brand of the device you bought.
