Happy Anniversary to Nick!

Happy anniversary and a HUGE thank you to @nick!

It's been 13 years that you've been around iFixit. 1,511 answers and 41 guides later, it's a no brainer to say that you've helped a ton of people fix their stuff, advocated for the right to repair, and helped inspire others to jump into making their devices work longer.

Hip hip hooray to you!

@nick the OG of iFixit. You've come a long way from the "dumpster diving" HS student, (do you still remember that profile on here;-) I met on here many years ago, to the professional you are now. It has been an absolute pleasure to "fix things" alongside of you. Congratulations Nick. You are awesome and Happy Anniversary.

Dumpster diving? Seems like there might be an interesting story here...

by

@amber I left a clue on what I've gotten that way on my profile ;). "Where did my film interest come from? ~13 years ago, I found a Canon AutoBoy (SureShot in US, AutoBoy in Japan) 76 in a pile of garbage when I was trashpicking for old computers to learn from, as I did not have the means to source out something I'd like for a while."

by

I didn't connect the dots, I didn't realize you were literally trash picking! I thought it was more like a "My neighbor gives me all the tech they planned to through away." ^_^

by

@amber I get a lot of it that way too xD. Back end deals where I either wipe the HD, drill the drive/use it for target practice or just let them keep the drive. Target practice is cheaper then a press.

by

@amber it was always interesting to read @nick 's profile and questions. He got a lot of cool items to work on through his dumpster diving. I always thought it was really cool that this "kid" actually, physically did this. Can't get much cooler than that :-)

You've come a long way my friend!
