I don't disagree that their posts all look spammy, but I'm confused as to why. The links they're posting to are all to Lenovo, which are valid site links. I've gone ahead and banned them. Thanks!

They don't seem to make much sense and another user is already trying to edit them as well. Very strange.

@vauweh they could be. They are linking to a crappy source (may be their website) each time and don't provide much supporting text in their posts. I saw the posts have been removed so I would just keep an eye on the account. @oldturkey03 has seen a lot more spammers than I have so I don't think banning them is warranted... yet ;).

Provides good answers but always recommends the same TV parts website either by inserting link showing the part or by writing out the URL.
Been around for a while so maybe just likes the parts website. Not sure if this is regarded as spam or not.

@jayeff thanks for sharing! They seem to only hop on every few years and link to what looks like a non-spammy site. Our commercial linking policy states, "If no iFixit or iFixit-verified affiliate products are available, commercial links may be posted on guides, and recommended elsewhere on the website, on a case-by-case basis." I need input from @krisrodriguez on this one.
It doesn't seem like low-quality link promotion. iFixit does not sell a lot of TV parts so they could actually be helpful links for people who are trying to replace the part. Answer #745074 could be taking the discussion off-site though since they are not linking to a part and are instead linking to a service on that website.

@evanga2so no matter what it's still self-promotion and peddling your own parts/services. Not cool. After having been a member for 4 years that user should most certainly know better. At least they could fill out their profile etc. Give us something that we could at least hope they care about repair and not just adding their parts and services. I realize what you mean by " iFixit does not sell a lot of TV parts so they could actually be helpful links for people who are trying to replace the part" but what if the parts are no good, what if the service is malodorous? Agree with you on "commercial links may be posted" but always to the same site? I'd say in ain't Ham :-) Would we not provide a disservice to Answers by saying that it's okay since iFixit does not sell TV parts? I say it's time for Mjölnir :-)

@oldturkey03 great points. Pretty much everyone here has more experience dealing with potential community abusers so I will always defer to Mjölnir's Masters: you, @krisrodriguez @amber, and whoever else has seen a lot of these over time.

@evanga2so you are doing a great job. i always feel bad for any of those occurrences since I envision that the person really does not do any harm etc. and I am okay with letting some of that slide. It's just that this one had nothing but and looking at the time they have been here, is what sways me. It's not an oops, stuff happens, it's a deliberate thing and that's no bueno :-)
