Are there any additional updates needed?

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Recalibrati...

Due to just how unique HP machines are in terms of calibration and health checks I went ahead and amended in HP laptop specific steps to make sure the method is known with HP — the updated steps are 10 and 11. However Step 6 shows older diagnostics where I use to drain the HP laptops for calibration purposes. I have not checked if there is a difference outside of UI but most likely it’s the same.

Is this something y’all would update or leave be given the stark contrast between the machines I used and the overhaul of the layout?

@nick I would leave it as is due to the different variations.

The process to run the battery down with the memory run is the same. Just a different GUI with the newer revision. I ran the new one on the 15p since somehow I still have it (the new UI shows on the Pavilion and EliteBook firmware). It’s a UI change. If the HP procedure wasn't so offbeat from the other major brands due to how HP protects it I wouldn't need to post the UEFI steps. HP Support Assistant does the same job but on the EliteBook series, they don't use it.

But yeah if you have one from years back and never updated an old HP it will have the older GUI.

I did ATA secure erase a few years back for the old owner per their request so the 2017 partition is long gone. Though I reloaded it too but when I retired it I wiped it the same way so it’s done. So in this case probably more reason to not mess with it since I can’t go back. The other thing is yes it was the same on my 2015 HP and my 2023 HP EliteBook but that may not always be the case. It could fallback onto another UI like the legacy for some.
