Possible bug when logging into meta?

Hi @krisrodriguez ,

Have noticed that when logging onto meta.ifixit.com/answers i.e. here, that I'm being redirected to the www.ifixit.com/answers/ website and not staying here.

The only way to get into meta is to then go to the meta page again and when I click on log in I'm automatically logged on i.e. no user name or password required.

Logging out of meta is as before that if I'm also logged into ifixit answers I'm logged out of there as well.

Answered! View the answer I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@jayeff, is this still happening?

by

@krisrodriguez

Yes.

As of 1130hrs AWST (GMT +8) 16th Mar. 2024 it's still occurring.

Logging into meta.ifixit.com/answers redirects me to ifixit.com where I'm shown logged in (which I wasn't before) and when I open a new browser page and go to meta.ifixit.com/answers I'm still not logged in there.

If I then click on login on that page, I'm logged in with no need for user ID or password.

I can't login directly to meta.ifixit.com/answers like I used to before. To login now I need to effectively login twice although for the "2nd" login I don't need to enter any user id/password details

Unrelated query.

Could you please tell me if there's an upload file size limit on ifixit?

Was trying to upload a hard to find service manual in an answer. It's a large .pdf file - 380MB and it wouldn't start loading when using the normal procedure.

Cheers

@jayeff, the issue is fixed! Still waiting on confirmation from the team about image size.

@jayeff, thank you for spotting that. We're working to get it fixed. I'll be in touch soon about the image file size.

Hi @krisrodriguez

Just verifying that the following is how logging in should work now?

Login to ifixit Answers, does not automatically log you in to meta but you only have to click the login link in meta to be logged in i.e. no user ID + password required to get into meta

Login to meta automatically logs you into ifixit/answers.

Logout of meta automatically logs you out of ifixit/answers if you're logged in there as well.

Logout of ifixit/answers does not log you out of meta if you're logged in there as well.

Cheers

@jayeff, yes, that's how logging in should work now. That's how it's always worked for me prior to the bug. Is this how it was for you too?

Also, thanks again for catching this. Always reach out if you ever find anything that isn't working as it should.

@krisrodriguez

That's how I thought it was prior to the bug but just wanted to verify that it is the way it should be.

Don't get old ;-)

Cheers

@jayeff, thanks for verifying :)
