iPhone 4 Display Assembly Replacement Step missing

The PDF manual in this page:

http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+i...

has one missing step.

After disconnecting the battery connector (Step 4), between the screw and its seating, there is a single small part sandwiched in between. It insulates the antenna connector (at least). That needs to be removed at Step 5.

Maybe it is a slight revision to v4. Still it may be there and get lost in all the subsequent shuffle.

Hey Jerome!

Thanks for pointing this out! We are looking into this issue, and it does appear that that step got left out. We will get right on updating the guide as soon as possible. Thanks for keeping us honest!

Jake

It is so small and light, I myself got confused upon re-setting - even having documented the pieces and steps.

Another suggestion for the manual - which I feel is far superior to a video - regard all the lateral screws with washers (steps 23 and 26) that hold the frame and screen-LCD sandwich.

I would suggest explaining their role and that they be loosened, rather than removed.

...Screws are too short and the washers tend to go rolling off into a corner on their own initiative.

...above all, I found out that, when re-assembling, one has to seriously pinch the frame and screen-LCD sandwich to kep the whole unit nice and snug in the end. By using the lateral screws as placeholders and slowly adjusting the screws (the four corners plus these lateral ones), one gets it right...
