daniel hopper hang on here. What battery? what device? What transaction have you had with ifixit? Before you blame ifixit and question their integrity with "Does ifixit do business in this manner" you should take a closer look in the mirror. You said you knew that it was a used battery and that "your customer" agreed to install it anyway, seems like you should not have agreed with that. You installed it, not ifixit. You had the opportunity to inform ifixit of this and I am certain that they would have done the right thing at that time. You did not check the battery, find it DOA after you installed it and now you want ifixit to take responsibility for a screen that you cracked? I believe your responsibilities are misguided here. You installed it, you broken the screen, not ifixit. I am not connected to ifixit as a business in any manner, but I believe you are way off with what you are asking.

I told him i was unhappy about the foam being torn on connector and sent him a picture yo can tell it has been used but he insisted that his vendor told him the older manufacture date was good batteries and if it didnt cycle good he would replace it . I was told to install after i eraised my concers about the connector and date. I emailed them about replacing and doing something on the screen he said he could start a return and I said I wanted to talk to someone about the problem. I have the emails to proved that I emailed them twice with no reply what does that tell you.

You should have refused to install the battery and told him to get it replaced, and gave the customer documentation of the problem.

You can't dodge your part because you didn't use your best judgement.

Thanks for jumping to our defense, guys! This was indeed an iFixit battery--might be one of the very rare ones that slips through our testing process and is DOA. We can't completely eradicate human error. :/ We're working with Daniel via email to fix this issue, and hopefully everyone will be happy with the resolution. You guys are wonderful for monitoring Meta and helping so many people! <3

Please let me post a pic of connector and manufacture date and you guys tell me if it looked used to you most of the foam was missing from connector

Every single iPhone 5, 6 series batteries I buy from any supplier does not come with the grey foam and not is required.

You are right about it being a used battery though if it still has some foam on the connector itself.

It pretty much means it has been removed from a phone before most likely.

and I REALLY want to know what device is this because I'm really surprised that you cracked the screen.

If it was a iPhone you can use a razor blade pry opposite of screen on the sides of the screen to pop it out starting from bottom to top but never prying the top of the screen as there is pretty much a hook / clip to anchor the screen in.

IMO razor blades in my experience are a pretty safe way to get iPhone 5 / 5c / 5s / 6 / 6+ screens out as it reduces the chances of the plastic / metal screen frame separating from the glass.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for reaching out! I opened up our email conversation with you and responded on there more fully to see if we can address some of your outstanding concerns regarding this situation. The TL;DR version is: Our warranty doesn't cover accidental damage that occurs during installation. Sorry about that. We are happy to get that battery back from you to test it and issue you a refund on it, though, and the details regarding that are in my email. Hopefully we can work together to resolve this to everyone's satisfaction.
