SPAM bot to active on our answer providers

How about a new perk for our answer providers? Let's say that once the reach 500 points, they are exempted from attack by the SPAM Bot?

If someone gets out of hand, we'll take care of it then.

I haven't written code in several years but wouldn't this just require a simple "if" statement?

It hit again and it looks like ladytech is quitting over it.

Hey guys, I went ahead and implemented this. Any user over 1000 rep will have their content automatically marked as not spam. It is very rare to receive spammy posts from high rep users, and you've all been good about reporting spam and voting rings, so hopefully this won't cause any problems. Let me know if any of your content gets automatically marked as spam if you're over 1000. It's still possible for lower reputation users' content to be improperly marked as spam by our automated system; training it is an ongoing and somewhat slow process. We track its accuracy, and it's steadily increasing, but it will probably never hit 100%. It's also possible for high-rep users' content to be manually marked as spam by admins or the community, but I don't expect that to happen very often.

Anyway, thanks for all your contributions and your spam vigilance! Happy posting!

This isn't a bad idea.

I reached out to Lady Tech about this, and haven't heard back yet unfortunately =(

We've so far been hesitant to set a rep limit on the spam bot since we had trouble with upvote rings in the past that seemed to have the potential to be malicious. But we'll look into it. And if you do get a chance to talk to Lady Tech, I hope you'll extend my apologies!

Since it takes several days to get over 500 rep points, and newbies that max out on points get looked at, I think we would catch a voting ring before it reached threshold. Or make it 1000 rep points.

I believe the cap for the day @mayer is 400?? It would be a pretty serious campaign for them to hit 1000. Most spammers aren't interested in doing work, it's a lot more like guerilla warfare, hit and run tactics. Also we've been getting stronger! I agree with the 1000. By the time a scammer gets to that level, we'll likely have them outed, and this way new people have a better chance of getting shut out and not coming back

I concur with my esteemed colleagues on that. Make it 1000 because like @theimedic stated already, by that time we'll have them already in our crosshair and well taken care off
