Nomination of jayeff for Moderator Powers

I know we have talked about this before but John got a good look at what a sustained attack of SPAM looks like last night. He tried to help but they were just coming to fast. I know he has turned Moderator down before but I think he would accept it now for emergency purposes. Having someone who's about 12 hours difference in time would be very helpful. I also need an actual phone number to call iFixit staff if this happens again @evan ;=)

@mayer - I agree it would be helpful to have some way to contact someone who could help straighten things out when we get a deluge like the other day.

I'm not sure if waking someone up in the West coast is that workable. Maybe someone in the European office would be better.

Dan I don't think I would have woken anybody up. I went to bed about 10:45 PM CST and it was 8:45 PM PST when I quit. But the attack started an hour and a half earlier. They were barely through their avocado toast and first glass of Tolosa Chardonnay at that time ;-)

@jayeff how about it? You will not be obligated to use your powers under any circumstances. You'll just be better prepared to deal with problems when you want to.

@jayeff I concur with this! No expectations from anybody regarding any moderations etc. You would just receive additional super powers to the stuff you already do anyway :-)

@mayer I don't think we need a contact number unless iFixit is staffed 24/7/365 I know how it is when your job takes over and becomes your life. For us, it's fun to volunteer and we do not mind putting the hours in on that etc., but it is a totally different story when it becomes your job. I think we leave that as is and continue to moderate it ourselves until the iFixit staff get to it, which they always have.

OK.

I don't mind helping out (as best that I can) when the situation warrants and if I'm on deck at the time.

As in the past, I'll let you know when I'm not going to be around for a while.

Thanks to all of you for all that you do. I for one really appreciate it.
