Search bar doesn't give expected results

I often look for a specific phone repair guide in the search bar, and end up having no results.

But when searching Google for the same model, ifixit guides appear in the first results.

I got this issue with Xperia XZ2 and OnePlus 7T. Any idea on why ?

Yes, this is because you’re using the french version. We're currently working on an improvement of the display, so that guides will also show up in other languages.

Until then, I can only recommend you to search in English and then switch back to french once you found what you’re looking for to see if that specific content has already been translated.

And of course, you’re always welcome to translate the ones you find useful so that our next french user doesn’t run into the same problem ;-)

This was a few years ago, but it still seems the case. Am I missing an option?

@hansvandermade I've now translated those 2 device pages into French for you, so that they also show up in the French search:

https://fr.ifixit.com/Search?query=Xperi...

https://fr.ifixit.com/Search?query=OnePl...

The translation queue for wikis is sorted by local views, so it is possible that those 2 devices did not show up there until now: https://fr.ifixit.com/Traduire?filter=wi...

Don't hesitate to tag me if you have further questions or concerns!

Thank you Sandra, for your help. I'll try to find the time to translate a few more guides. The issue - at least for me - is not so much a lack of translations, but the wish to have a global search function across languages. I understand this isn't easy (and needs to be paid for).

The suggestion we currently give to repairers at our Repair Cafés is to use "site:ifixit.com" in Google Search.
