Battery disconnect on repair guides.

I’ve noticed a couple of people having issues with screen replacements following Ifixit guides today.

On closer inspection the guides were not showing to disconnect the battery first!

I get it can be a short cut, it can also be a recipe for disaster also surely.

I left comments on both to ask is there a reason for this.

Any thoughts on the matter?

@basementdax which iFixit guides? List them on here so it'll be easier to check it out and make corrections as needed.

They might be correct it just seems odd to me. Especially as people having issues with screen replacements. It literally could be why.

I wasn’t looking for guides that didn’t have battery disconnect. Just noticed questions that made me think to check the guide as something didn’t add up in both cases, that made me think ‘you disconnected the battery right’ ?

@basementdax, Thank you for sharing this. Let me look into it a little more.

@basementdax , thanks for your patience. So it turns out that overall you're correct in assuming that disconnecting the battery should always be a priority, but Google Pixels (at least the ones mentioned) are built in a way where you can't actually disconnect the battery until after you've removed the screen. The motherboard cover/mid-frame has to be removed (see here and here) to get to the battery connector. You also can't actually lift the motherboard cover as long as the screen is connected.

@krisrodriguez Thanks for clarifying that appreciate you taking the time.

So it’s essentially a design flaw. I did wonder if it was
