I actually learned something just by reading it. If we keep archiving questions that are unresolved no-one else will stumble across what is actually good trouble shooting. There are lots of answers on the www that are obscure threads, no resolution, but that we can try out for ourselves. Nothing should be cut and dried.
This question has to be asked to the people voting for it. Unanswerable should be exactly that, no answer. This one most certainly has very good answers, those answers may no be black or white, but are still very valid. It should NOT be archived as unanswerable.
I guess I oopsed ;-) tried to figure out what the pass/fail would do (never used it) and clicked on fail. Now the vote to archive it failed. Sorry....:-)
