Can I write articles on gun accessories and modifications?

The title is pretty self explanatory, can I write articles on gun accessories and modifications? I mean, it's not like those are the only kinds of hacks, mods, or things I fabricate, but it is a hobby of mine. I'd like to share, especially since some of this stuff is super easy and can save people a lot of money. Or even give them a chance to create a product they can't even buy. At least, not yet.

Yes. The only requirement is that your instructions help others make their guns last longer. Instructions on how to use a gun or paint it purple are not relevant, while instructions on upgrading the scope or refinishing the stock are perfectly welcome.

Keep it legal by sticking to semi-autos, please. :-)

I was a former certified firearm instructor, so anything I post should not violate any BTAFE rules, though it will be the individuals responsibility to insure they comply with their own State and Local laws.

I am a little confused as to why an article on changing the finish on a gun would not be relevant. It does not take a genius to apply Guncoat, but for a novice a tutorial may prove invaluable, especially if it involves more complex finishes such as digital camo, or the finishes that require some initial surface prep and heat curing. Since Duracoat and Guncoat both become harder with use, they can greatly extend the life and serviceability of a gun, not to mention the coating is self lubricating for the most part. Minimizing friction and giving excellent protection to metal and polymer alike.

Besides, who WOULDN'T want to do this to their carry piece?

PS. Fully Auto firearms are legal, if you obtain the proper Class III permit from the BTAFE first. But even if I knew how, I'm not about to post publicly how to convert semi-auto to fully-auto. :)

Right now more interested in things like making slings, holsters, and grip aids.

Thank you for your quick and helpful reply!

The point of iFixit is making devices last longer, or fixing them, otherwise for moding and making head over to make projects.

I'd be interested in this. Do you know if there is a conversion for the 1854 .36 cal Navy Colt from cap and ball to cartridge?

rab777hp - Thank you, make does seem to better fit my current project ideas. Thank you.

Mayer, I saw something about a similar conversion not that long ago, but not being a black powder person I've forgotten where. Try some of the black powder forums. I bet you'll get a solid answer. (I think the one I saw was .45 c&b to cartridge)

I would consider adding a protective coating that made something last longer repair-related. If it looks prettier when you're done, so much the better. But it would be important to stress the practical benefits of the procedure (in addition to aesthetics).

again- LEGAL, don't make me go Brady campaign on you...
