Updated iFixit Community Guidelines

Happy almost-Mashed-Potato-Day, folks!

It’s been pretty neat for me to watch the iFixit community grow into a global, fixer-force these past few years. We’re on track to help 100 million people fix their things just this year—and we absolutely couldn’t have done that without you. With so many new Padawans joining our ranks, I thought it was time to revisit our Community Guidelines.

Our mission has always been to make repair accessible and easy for as many people around the world as possible. Every day, we have first-time fixers to expert micro-solderers visit our site for repair help—and that’s fantastic! We want to be helpful to everyone. To keep our community functioning smoothly, we re-wrote our guidelines using feedback I received from a lot of you—as well as feedback we got from the iFixit team.

I’d love for you to check them out and get your feedback. If you have any questions or concerns, I want to hear those, too.

Excellent. You mentioned that "You can also report it on Meta and our Lead Community Moderators will take action as soon as we can. Most iFixit moderators are in the office during business hours in California, so if it takes a little while to get a response—just know that we’re not ignoring you." But I think it would be nice to mention that our great community moderators typically are active throughout most the day and evening.

@evan Shucks, I thought that applied to a much narrower range. But does it apply internationally? Could it be changed to "You must be 13 or over to participate on iFixit if within the US"?

I would think it would apply internationally, it pretty much implies you have to be at least 13 to register an iFixit account.

Looks good! The cheating section looks like a nice addition, and good call on clarifying the California business hours thing. I *always* forget the 3 hour difference. Also, love the last line :D
