Hi @jayeff, thank you for continuing to post! I took care of the second one and the first one is okay for now. He had some information besides what he said about the store and he doesn't include a link. I think we should keep an eye on him instead. If he just starts posting identical answers, then we would consider it spam. Thanks again!

Spam and nasty answers in one package! The day finally came. Gonna need a plow and dumpster to deal with this one - a hammer won’t work since they have one in their picture.

I think a warning is more in line with them - they aren’t a lost cause.

Hi @nick, thanks for making us aware of him. We think overall he is being helpful and he made a couple of snarky comments which is not good. If he starts to comment with foul or abusive language we will consider a ban. Thank you!

Maybe the wrong place to ask but do you think that this user is really being paranoid about his phone or just gets his jollies by being annoying?

He has basically asked the same question in various ways 9 times since 03 Apr. and even asks them again and again in comments when people have answered him.

This is an example of what I mean

I’ve already advised him to ask on other forums or even to get a professional repairer’s opinion as he didn’t seem to listen to any of the responses he got. But it seems that he just submits the same again as a new question to get different opinions which again he seemed to disregard.

To my view his posts are now just nuisance value

I'm over it too - I've explained things and yet there's another question or some new point. I ignore them and all of a sudden they bring it up again until they get a new response that's canned at this point - which isn't obvious to him :|.

I gave it 2 days and now this is just a case of him being stubborn or wasting people's time.

He has now posted his 10th new question on the same subject around about the same time as his last comment in the link I posted above.

Most probably realized that @nick wasn't going to respond anymore and now needs someone else to toy with to get his jollies.

Hi @sarahw ,

I think our friend from yesterday is back using another User ID, as it was exactly the same question as asked previously, so I’ve banned him.

I’ll keep an eye out in case he tries it again using yet another user ID and keep banning him while I’m online, till hopefully he gets the message.

I’ll update any more new User IDs (if any) as I go.

Do you think that this may be spam as well perhaps, because it is always the same link that is attached when the question is first asked?

Hi @jayeff, thank you for catching this. It's becoming more clear that this guy is spamming. We had decided to ban him for a month but it seems like maybe we should do a full ban. Thank you for removing the comment.

The +12 hour time difference is making it harder for spam to be kept on for too long before one of us picks up on it and deletes it. Hopefully this is discouraging to the spammers

I pick up on it early, you and the others pick up on it when it is late here.

I banned this user https://www.ifixit.com/User/3469541/CTS+... earlier because they were just posting their Instagram account and also because of the weird answer that is shown above.

Initially they were OK and then the self promo started I have deleted all the posts created by the above that contained spam etc.

Also banned this user https://www.ifixit.com/User/3469566/CTS+... for the same reasons as above

Ditto this user https://www.ifixit.com/User/Activity/346...

They were getting a bit prolific

This user https://www.ifixit.com/User/3467896/Chan... still seems to be OK as yet there is no weird answers, although I did delete all the self promo Instagram comments (7+) that were left by this user.

He posted the same answer twice with an image in it and both were deleted by the iRobot and then a third without an image which worked OK I can’t work out what the problem was with the first two, so I restored one answer and advised the user, who subsequently deleted the answer that was without the image

I realize that this may not be the right place but I didn’t think that it was worth a whole new question on meta.

He has been a member for a long time.

Perhaps an email about what constitutes an answer may be appropriate.

Hi @danj, I just banned him. Generally we don't send emails to spammers. When we have attempted to before, they have had false emails. Hopefully, he will just get tired of it. Thanks for your help. Have a good weekend!
