Increase in Answers forum "unexpected downtime" events?

Hi @jogihara @kristen

Can you find out why the Answers Forum is experiencing so many “ifixit unexpected downtime” events lately, (since the start of the new year at least)? - Is it the devs testing perhaps?

It’s getting a bit frustrating writing answers to questions only to lose it when posting the answer and having to rewrite the entire answer again and post it again due to this problem.

As it is random as far as a particular time goes, it’s getting to the stage where I’m having to copy my answers before posting, just in case it is lost when I post it. At least I can then paste and repost it and it usually gets through.

I suspect that it probably doesn’t affect where you are as much (if at all) given the +16 hours time difference between us, as it mainly occurs between 7.00 p.m and 12.00 a.m PST in the USA. or if the ifixit servers are somewhere else between 11.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. AWST Perth Australia.

It has never happened after 5.00 a.m PST USA (9.00 p.m AWST Aust) or maybe I’ve just been lucky ;-)

Cheers

UPDATE:

Hi @kyle,

As luck would have it since I reported the problem it didn’t happen again for a while but now it is happening more frequently again

This is the message I get

Hi Jayeff,

We’re not having widespread issues, and we don’t have any errors in our logs. This appears to be particular to your account, perhaps because you have so much historical activity and reputation.

We’re going to dive into this! We will take a look at your specific account. If anyone else is encountering these errors, please let us know!

@jayeff - Are you seeing iFixit messages? It could be a caching server in AU that burped!

@danj

Not sure what you mean about ifixit messages.

I get the notifications show up when I'm logged in etc but this one seems as though it is its own page as it is a full page message about unexpected downtime and that they are aware of it and will resolve it as soon as they can etc.

Cheers

Huh. I’ve not seen any of this, perhaps a timing thing. I’m in EST.
