Spam Folder March 2021
Welcome to March! Please post any spammy content here and tag me, @jogihara, or @kristen and we’ll make sure to take care of it. Thanks!
Is this a worthwhile discussion?
Hi @sarahw ,
Welcome to spring! (tis autumn here).
Found a voting ring I think or maybe the same person perhaps as it is interesting how they all joined ifixit on the same date (02/09), except the last one shown (02/15). They joined later so maybe the user wasn’t getting enough votes for a “good answer” badge quick enough ;-)
This user answers questions and one or more of these users upvote the answer nearly every time within an hour of posting. They never answer any questions themselves but do post comments sometimes about how the “answer” solved the problem for them

Just the usual suspect 3866895

Id say theyre advertising, always linking to their site and in their bio as well
Hi @jayeff and Dylan, thank you! Yes, it seems like the account is purely advertising which does go against the rules. It looks like spam to me! I've taken care of the account. Happy Monday : )

Hi @jayeff, I know that feeling! : )
https://www.ifixit.com/User/3099844/Jenn...
User advertises for a game site in their answer which they copy and pasted and changed some words

Hi Dylan, thanks for the post! For the first one, I removed the link. The other two I took care of also. Thanks again!
Yeah no problem! :)
Hi @sarahw ,
Should this question be moderated as Remove as not repair related?

Useless trivia:
Tomorrow’s date here, is a palindromic number i.e. 12.3.21 ;-)

Hi @jayeff, thanks for catching that one! I removed the post and we will contact the user! That's a cool bit of trivia : ) Enjoy your palindromic day!
Hi @sarahw ,
I have a vague recollection that this question was asked before on iFixit and that the OP just kept on re-phrasing the question in replies to any answer as they were never satisfied with the answer. This pattern can be seen in the thread in the other website that I linked.
Is it possible for you to check if the “original” question was asked about 11 months ago, has been archived or deleted to see if this was the case? (possibly posted with a different user name)
I can’t find it so perhaps it has been deleted by the OP and now re-posted using a different account, but you will notice that the OP just copied the same question from where it was posted on another website about 11 months ago. They even used the same username
@nick If I remember correctly I think that you responded with an answer that the OP kept dragging out with responses, requesting clarification or answers to other possible scenarios based on your replies.
I may be wrong but I picked up on it as soon as I saw it posted and then did a Google search using the text of the question and it popped up straightaway in the other website. I wouldn’t think of doing this with other questions so something must have clicked ;-)
I think that the OP must get his jollies from doing this. To me they’re just wasting everybody’s time
Cheers

Tbh I forgot who did it, but yeah... If it was them, would not surprise me.

Hi @jayeff, thank you for catching this one! I remember him too. I've taken care of him. Happy Monday : )
Thanks for remembering it too.
I'm glad, as it means that I'm not as far down the senility road as I thought and starting to remember things from long ago but incorrectly so, but can't then remember what I had for breakfast :-)
My Monday was OK but it was not so happy for a well known historical ruler - "..... beware the Ides of March...."
Happy St. Patrick's day on Wednesday

@jayeff What a way to go. I can't say I know a lot about Julius Caesar, but that is a bit of bad luck! Happy that your Monday was better than that : )
Hi @sarahw ,
Here’s another one like above 823053
Also was there a reason that the second one above was not banned also?

Hi @jayeff, thank you! I'm sorry about missing that one yesterday! I took care of it today and the three you posted here as well! The first one seemed to answer a few questions without links so I just removed the link in one answer and I deleted one of his answers as spam. If he continues to post links to his business we'll have to ban the account. Thank you for all your help with spam! : )
@sarahw - Looks like we have a META spammer! 3888757 I’ve dealt with the user, can you clean up META

Hi @danj, Happy Monday! It looks like someone took care of this one before I could get to it. That account has already been banned. Thanks for the post!
Hi @danj, done! I'm not sure why it wasn't removed when the ban was done. I've removed it as spam though! Thank you!

Hi @jayeff! Good to hear :) It is very beautiful here right now and the weekend was nice! Unfortunately, no short week for us. Thanks for the post. I took care of the user. Thanks!
Hi @sarahw
You’re living in the wrong country. ;-) Here Good Friday and Easter Monday are gazetted national public holidays. In some states they have Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday gazetted as public holidays as well, whereas others only have Easter Saturday or Easter Sunday also. Aust. public holidays

Hi @jayeff! Thanks for the post. I've taken care of that user! Wow, that sounds great! I hope you have an excellent short week and Easter : ) We definitely haven't become wise about holidays and vacation time yet. Maybe it's because we're a young country? Hopefully, in my lifetime!
As a country the USA is a lot older than Aust. 1776 (or was it 1789?) vs 1901.
You could say that our only claim to being an "old country" is that Australia's indigenous Aboriginal peoples have a proven connection with this land going back some 40,000 - 60,000 years. European settlement (occupation?) only commenced in 1788 and then it was only as a penal settlement for Great Britain.
Have a great Easter
Cheers

@jayeff, I realized that, or rather looked it up after posting. I guess in many ways, not a great excuse.
Hi @sarahw
Don’t know if they’re just being helpful but are promoting the same website so probably not. 3901905
