Hello Meta!

Happy November! I know only some folks celebrate the US November Holiday, but I still think it's a great reminder to share what we're thankful for.

I am thankful for our amazing community, all of you, the work that you do to helps keep our planet going, and that you are all selflessly helping others who just need a little extra help. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do!


So, you know the drill—share any spammy content you find on iFixit in this thread so that @krisrodriguez and I can get rid of them!

I think that these two users are one and the same. They both posted essentially the same spam in this question (answers/comments are now deleted).

@amber @krisrodriguez this user https://www.ifixit.com/User/About/408823... is suggesting a roofer from Canada, eh. I think the user needs to hang their shingle out somewhere else.

@amber @krisrodriguez it appears we have some repeat offenders creeping in. We got this user https://www.ifixit.com/User/4190758/Alic... let's call it SPAM and the partner https://www.ifixit.com/User/4206102/awes... let's call that one Eggs. Spam ask a question like this one https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/7547... and Eggs comes in and answers it. Amazingly enough, Eggs knows all about the "gassing and spitting of the flux" as evidenced here https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/7542... but then 3 days later, does not know how to remove a soldering iron tip. Meanwhile Spam is well versed in selling soldering equipment on the international market as shown here https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/4381...

SPAM also gets an honorary mention in guides create by Eggs on here https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Hand+Solder...

Anyhow, I am all confused now ;-). I really just want to see, if we can provide some heat to this international soldering duo and get them to just melt out of here.

First off: this is not a SPAM report, but more a question about a user that has been showing some ‘‘weird'' statements.

This is the user in question: Nate dog.

Some of his comments can be viewed as downright hostile towards either the user that answered or commented. From reading several of his questions, I got the sneaking suspicion he ‘’repairs‘’ iPhones and sells them (no problem whatsoever, I do as well), but he seems to be cutting a lot of corners, and doing repairs bodged.

This question in particular he outright says he’s planning on removing hardware and functionality, to sell a “ghost phone”…

Another question he asked (yesterday?) he had an iPhone 6 Plus that had clear signs of Touch disease, and he bodged a repair with some aluminium foil as a spacer (according to himself).

Maybe something for the mods and admins to keep an eye on?

@geirandersen he popped up on my radar a while ago. Going to keep my eyes peeled. Something is up......the ghost phone question disappeared for now. It is not repair related so there is no room for it on here.

Their name is "رضا شاهسونی @rezashah"

And also the translation was "Hello Uncle, What are we doing tomorrow?"
And then "99okbmi jiiyn8"

@beanman56 the term Uncle in other cultures is not necessarily what we are relating it to. It can be used as a term of respect to an elder. For example, it would not be uncommon to call a friend of an elderly family member (like a friend to a grandfather) an Uncle. I don't necessarily consider it SPAM. The last comment was deleted since it did not seem to serve a purpose.

Thanks for the heads up, @beanman56! I've deleted the mallard they were trying to add to that Switch guide (though it was a beautiful duck) because it seemed a little off topic. They might just be trying to figure out how to do things but it didn't seem spammy enough to ban. I'll keep an eye on him though!
