So the published guide on iFixit for a particular repair I was looking for has only one “step”: an embedded video of a company’s repair tutorial.

Technically, I guess it’s better than no guide. But I can’t parse how community standards regards such a practice.

The contributor’s profile page doesn’t overtly state that his business created the video, only that he runs his own small business. That said, he has also done the same for two other guides.

Looking for a clear response here, because a search of pages on community standards as well as a search through Meta answers (keywords “guide” and “video”) didn’t turn up any overt answers about the particular issue. And while I’ll admit that perhaps it’s just my own personal glitch, I came to iFixit because I prefer the written guide style to videos. So this experience was definitely unlike all the other experiences I’ve had using other in-depth contributed guides here. It’s left me wondering if I should expect more of the same in the future.

Ugly αss Face is what you have

I'm about to request a new MBP with a 256 GB SSD. My company buys them in bulk so I can't request the 512 GB drive. If I purchase a 512 replacement from your site, how can I sale the 256GB drive?

Now that Disney is starting to roll out their MagicBand in the parks, is there any plan to tear one down to see what is actually inside? We know that it contains a battery, RFID chip and bluetooth chip. There are rumors that Disney designed the chipsets in house.

I have someone willing to donate their MagicBand to the greater good.

I have a couple of the Mako kits, but I don’t use the majority of the bits. Is there a custom tool kit option on the horizon? Something where a case a driver combo could be chosen with the option to select the bits included. Selecting individual bits might be too granular, but perhaps by group or type. Such as flat head, hex key, hex driver, specialty, etc.. Possibly with the option of multiples of the same group.

Consumers could select the groups that meet their needs, instead of having to purchase a 64 bit kit to get the 10 or so bits they use.

Personally, I remove the bits I don’t use and fill the empty spaces with extras of the ones I use most often. Unfortunately from a source other that Ifixit, due mostly to the cost of individual bits and no option to purchase multi-packs at a discounted rate.

I would be willing to pay somewhere around 50% more for the custom option.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?
